I have a 2003 Ford F350 with a 7.3 liter and would like to get some sort of chip or programmer for it. Any suggestions or pros and cons of some that you are running.

Howdy and Welcome to the SuperDutyDiesel community:thumbs

We been running for going on 4 years the SCMT 1700 which only has two programs 60HP & 80HP which the 80 we runn about all the time. I like the 1700 for ease of uploading but the downside is no DTC reader which isn't that big of an issue.

I've heard lots of positive feedback on the Edge Evolution programmer.

welcome aboard
I ran a predator in my 2002 73. dually
it performed superbly
the tow load 40 hp was the best
65 hp load would leave four black marks on the pavement and egts HAD to be watched if you werent careful, plus lots of injector rattle if you stayed planted
85 hp OMG sit down shut up and WATCH egts iffin your foot is buried
100hp load
think space shuttle and of course watch egts iff you hammer it
roger to throttle up and BAM your gone

I have the Edge Evo, and run on the 80 horse setting most of the time, and love it. After istall in the parking lot, I lit em' up coming out of it, barely got on it and did that. I will have to say it will smoke when you put it on the 100 horse setting. At least my early 99' does. Over all love it. The only thing is I wish it was adjustable while driving.

I have a 1705 SCMT. I like it a lot, mostly run it on 80 HP since I tow a horse trailer quite a bit. The 110 does scoot though :)

All above are good tuner's but the new SCT xcal2 can be custom tuned to your truck. All the benefits of a chip with out the work. The SCMT has no trans controls, so you'll need to add a shift kit of some kind.

I've never had a programmer. But prior to my "conversion" when I used to hang at TDS, A LOT of folks over there had commented about how much better their trucks ran with DP-Tuner programs (either PCM tunes or chips) when compared to programers in general. One can get their PCM flashed with a DP-Tuner program like I did with a 80HP econo program for just a fraction of what a programmer or a chip costs. The amount of improvement over my old Banks junk was incredible. I've been:D :D :D :D :D ever since!

DP is now putting his programs on SCT tunners

Cool!!
I didn't know that. I knew he had programers, but I thought those were for the 6.0 folks.

Ya learn something every day.

I like my Evo! I'm a flipper so I like my chip more.

BTW, the Evo has programs from the guy that DP Tuner first learned from. Granted he's stepped up to the cylinder pressure testing equipment since then but I would venture to say that Edge has it possibly for Bill to use.
