I was talking to my friend who also has a 2000 F250 7.3 with almost the same set up as mine. he was telling me when he goes to the track he pulls off the wastegate hose and runs without it, he says that it will hold the boost better when running down the track. i havent heard of this before. and when hes done running he hooks it back up. has anyone heard or tried this before. :dunno

lots of folks do that. it is a good idea. you can leave it off all the time if you want. stick a golf t in it or jam it over one of the studs on the air pipes hose clamps.

It will over speed(over boost) the stock turbo. Its not rated for over 25#... Fine for track use and such but I would get a better acuator... Turbomaster or Banks Big head.

I lost .1-.2 of a second in the quarter when I disabled the WG on the stock exhaust housing. Truck was harder to pedal out of the hole, after 1800rpm clutch dump, with the WG connected. Disconnected...it built boost faster but back pressures were higher(according to data logging) and wouldn't break them loose as easy after 1st and 2nd shifts. Hot and overspun.

Now I don't need a wastegate with the bigger ex. housing! :D
