Wastegate Openening too soon?

I have an 01 that makes a whine when I get on it, from about 2000 rpm up. The noise sounds like it is comming from the motor and not from the trans. I did the Zoodad mod last week and it has gotten worse. Any Ideas? Since the zoodad it has started to smoke more than before also.

any idea what kind of boost you are making? egts?

not a good idea to do upgrades without gauges,you need to know where the motor is at all the time.its too easy to hit critical mass without gauges. boost,pyro,and tranny are the 3 most common gauges
