Just one of those things to keep in the back of your mind...

I stopped by Auto zone today and there is a sign next to the door regarding the Texas Clean Air Act. It was only the section that referred to removing emissions control devices stating it is illegal to bypass, alter, or remove unless for purposes of replacement. I was already aware of this (and it applies regardless of whether your car is or isnt required to have them in the first place) but didnt really ever care. What caught my attention was the last sentence --> "punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 dollars per violation." Yes, $25,000.

"you see officer, there was a mongoose in the road. A really BIG mongoose..."

No lawenforcement officer would dare. Most of us took these devices off years ago! Besides you have to know your way around an engine and I personally know many without an engine clew so if they don't know what their looking at you can't be cited. Beside different makers use different smog equipment. To many variables. It would have to be a specialty unit like our commercial guys and then we still need PC to stop you. A blower sticking out of the hood would be a give away, but then I'd stop you just to  and BS.:thumbs

Hopefully SOONER than later we're going to take this country back!:usa

I dont think a law enforcement officer would be the one likely to nab you. Im really not concerned in the slightest but was struck by the sign. I suppose if you were to be caught it would be by someone working on the truck that noticed and turned you in. An inspection station for example. Not likely but a possibility. The cat converter would be the most obvious item they could see missing. That was the Magnum PI quote in my post above about the mongoose - ran over it and knocked the thing off...
