Warm up?

This is possibly a dumb question, but do I need to let my engine get to normal (or close to) operating temperature before I drive it? NOOB question I know.

nope.

if the oil pressure is up, and she responds to the throttle, drive it.

I agree only let mine warm up on very cold days. Start let oil pressure build and drive just take it easy till it does warm up.

Over on another (un-named) site, the majority of members seem to let oil pressure come up, then take it easy until the temp needle moves. Then you're ready for speed.

The diesel engine doesn't warm up "well" while idling. Put a load on it and it'll come up to temp much faster.
