My vaccum pump started making noise about a week ago. Now this is the second one from Oreilly in about 2 and 1/2 years. Now I noticed thius morning that I have like an oily residue coming from the center chrome piece on th front of the pump. Do yall think that is just grease from the bearings are what. this oily residue has really got me worried. Yall please excuse my spelling. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.:dunno

If it is making noise, it is going out. The oily residue is a warning sign. Don't buy O'Reilly, but get it from International.

Had the same problem, but my pump went out 80 miles out in the middle of no where and in AK that's can be five minutes from home. Bought an international part and it works great since install.

according to some you are supposed to add 10CCs of oil to the pump before installation.take the bolt out of the back cover and shoot the oil in.

but after 2 pumps from advance auto parts in a month,i went directly to ford for it.didnt add oil, didnt know about it then.havent had a problem yet
