Hey All,
Driving to work tonight and when my tranny shifts it feels like I am getting rear-ended. Very very hard shifts, I was only about a 1/4 form home so I limped it back home and took the wife's truck to work. The OD light is flashing as well. Have had no probs driving it before tonight. No hard shifts, no funny noises.
We were planning to take it to Kansas on Saturday, any help is greatly appreciated.

Went out to the truck this morning and did as Rich said. While I was sitting there I remembered that my speedometer and tach didn't work last night when this problem was going on. I checked my fuses and I had pulled the #8 fuse because I didn't want the cargo lights getting hot (see older posts for explanation). Anyways, I re-installed that and started her up. Checked the fluid and I was a little low, but no Flashing OD light. Drove around the block and no shift problems. Having said that, I am on my way to get a code reader just to make sure nothing else is going on. Could the missing fuse have caused my problem?
:dunno
Thanks,
Craig

you will need to get the codes read.but you can shut it off and restart it in a few minutes and see if the OD light goes out.you can also disconnect the batteries or pull the PCM fuse for about 10 minutes to reset the PCM.drive it and see if it goes away or if the light comes back on and shifts hard.if it goes out and doesnt come back on you may have an intermittent issue.if it comes right back on than you got a serious problem.

my 94 will start shifting hard as hell and blink the OD light if im pulling hard and turn the OD off to get it to downshift to make a hill.i gotta reset the PCM and its fine

Like Rich said, get the codes read first so we know the root cause. Basically limp mode puts the tranny at full pressure, thus the hard shifts. If you have to drive it that way start out in manual 2nd and shift around 35mph, light throttle. It won't buck as hard that way.
