OK, I'm so mad I could eat bees. I almost tagged someone this weekend in the wife's KJ cause something had eaten the vacuum brake boster line almost in half. Didn't realize it was an issue till we got out on the main road. It felt a little stiff but not bad until I needed to stop a little quicker. Anyway I replaced it and just found out they ate the washer fluid lines at the fire wall for the rear washer -mad . Plus this morning I popped the hood and found they had started on the line I just replaced -mad -mad .
Aside from going braided lines throughout (which I couldn't even begin to afford) any ideas on what I can do?
I'm thinking of setting a baited live trap under the jeep and see if I catch the little %$#% that way but I'm open for any ideas.

Here's what the vacuum line looks like http://community.webshots.com/photo/271023934/540924431VjiquR

Thanks
Ron

gopher bait aka poisoned peanuts. Make sure there are no cats or dogs around, or they wont be. Bryan

throw a few mothballs in the engine compartment & around the area where you park.

For the sake of your sanity avoid putting them near the intake for the a/c & heat.

Baited traps, my man... a rat trap with a little peanut butter smeared on the release will solve your issue with a quickness. I do not like using poison, because I have dogs, but that would work, too. Just put the trap more or less under the area where the damage occured, they won't be able to resist to temptation of the rich, creamy peanut butter... Mmmmmmmmmm... PEEEEAAANUT BUUUUTTERRRRRRR... (Drool noises)

I have found that creamy works the best, but in a pinch, chunky will probably work... :roflmao

BTDT..................

Go buy those rat baits that come in cubes with a hole in the middle.

Wire them up under the hood.

You have any idea how long it took me to find this little iddy biddy wire chewed in half that caused my alternator to stop working??? -mad

I naturally started at the wrong end of the circuit looking for the break.

Most of the time they laugh at the snap traps also (cause of the horses) but peanut butter sounds like a plan. I like baiting the live traps cause then I know I got the little buggers.

After 20 some years where we are, the cars and trucks have never been touched by rats, squirrls, mice, raccons or whatever. Maybe it's all this stupid rain we're getting and they think the wifes jeep is an ark...

My mother in law had the same problem, they ate thru a ton of stuff. She got a bottle of fox urine and I put it on a sock and zipped tied under the hood out of the way of moving parts. So far so good, and no poisons for our dogs or cat to get to.
