Using my homemade breakout box i have concluded that my buddys 97 is not running on the entire left bank. smelled the breather from the VC and slight burnt smell, did i assume right that the VC harness is burnt up.
How hard is it to replace?
Torque specs on the VC bolts?
Is there a resistance value for the glow plugs that i can test while i'm in there doin the repair?

Any other pointers would be great for those who have done it

Thanks
Neal

a good glow plug reading is 0.6-2 ohms i believe,or should be close either way,on gpr relay i think anything more then a 0.5v drop across big terminals when the relay is active, its prolly bad.someone correct me if im a bit off.

i'd bet he has a cooked idm. i have seen a bunch of trucks that lose an entire bank, so far every time it has been the idm full of water.

uvc is much cheaper, but dont just throw parts at it....figure out whats wrong with it and fix it right.

take the idm off and see if its full of water, that would be really quick and easy.

ok... talked to tech.. he said to run with valve cover off and visually watch for oil comin from injector returns, so i did, and they were all functioning, but no fire!?
so, i went for a fuel problem, and the screen in the FPR was pretty plugged and there was debris in the small orfices. cleaned it and it started to run better! not 100%, but better.

I cant explain why it would cause just one bank to go dead? can you?

Thanks
