Turbo Silencer?????

Ok guys here it is, I was talking to some other Diesel owners last night and they were picking my brain trying to get more power out of their trucks. Then one of them came to me and asked me if I had taken out my Turbo Silencer I stood there like a monkey reading a map Then I asked him what he was talking about I had never heard of that. He does drive a dodge, and said that he had red it on one of their forum sites. He told me that all trucks with turbos have this. Apparently it is located on the intake side of the Turbo. If you take the intake off there is a clip inside that you take out and it is suppost to make your turbo sound like a plane when you start up and really loud when you are driving down the road. I don't know and I couldn't throw any because I didn't have anything to back myself up with. That is why I came to you guys for help. Let me know what ya'll think.

I have not heard of that, but leave it up to a Dog owner to start a rumor like that. My KW didn't have one and our Fords don't either.

A turbo silencer....I have two in my truck, no whistle at all. LOL

When i was looking at a dodge several had mentioned it.... Dodge (or cummins) put in this plastick piece right before the turbo to slow down the air or something.... but yes... i does readuce the turbo noise. I dont remember if there was a power gain if it was removed but like i said.... several had mentioned it.

Thats only on Dodges, My friend also has a dodge and mentioned that to me and he asked if Ive taken mine off............. YUP SURE DID WHILE IT WAS BEING BUILT

yeh ive only heard of dodges having that, so of course that makes the idiots say hey they all have it.

Yea I think only dodges have them, and when a buddy of mine took his off neither he or I could tell the diff.
