Thanks for all the other input on the exhaust folks. I did find the gauges on sale. Three pillar column thingy.. with three gauges... with the pre-wired kit for @ $300. That should be Ok.. I hope.

So now I have been doing my reading on my chips/tuners and everything else. I can honestly say, having no mechanical background, I am more confused than ever. :)

From what I understand.. chips and tuners are like hunting dogs.. everyone is pretty loyal to their brand / type. So this could end up being an open ended thread. I was originally going with the Diablo Sport, but then the more I read from other users, while it has a great price, its not all that it is cracked up to be. Sooo.. I am looking at the DP Tuner? The shop where I was looking is closed for relocation or something, but from what other users have posted, they really seem to know what they are doing. I must ask though, has anyone had any real issues with the DP Tuner?

Thanks in advance.

Beauxdru,

You are right about everyone having their own personal choice. Being new to the diesel world, I too am reading and learning. I plan on meeting some of the local guys this weekend and will "grill" them for all the information I can.:D
I currently plan on buying a DP Tuner, just based on his customer feedback. But, I am going to wait about a month as Jody and Diane have a new chip coming out.

DP's New Product

If you can hold on a few weeks, you may be even happier with the results.:sweet

I am not really "brand" loyal... I have run Superchips tuner, Hypertech tuner, TS chip, DI chip and ATS chip... All tuned by differant people, all having good and bad points. DP tuner has made a name for themselfs in the last few years, I will try there stuff to soon.

I recomend in order

1. ATS with Tadds PMT programs
2. DI's with Daivds PMT3 programs
3. Superchips programmer
4. TS chip with NVK programs (side note- the Ts would rank better but it was older fuel 7 programs)

Stay away from SCMT (different than SCT).

Why stay away from SCMT??? They are ok. I ran one for years in my 97, no issues... Are you talking about for a 6.slow? LOL

1. The SCMT is made for a truck without any other engine modifications (this is taken directly out of the instructions).

2. Within 5,000 miles of installing the SCMT, I started having turbo problems. Maybe related, maybe not.

3. For the price of the SCMT, I could've bought an SCT or another better tuner.

4. Each time the PCM is flashed, the SCMT has to go back to Superchips for updating. The last one took 8 weeks.

As for the 6.slow.....my buddies 7.3 X on Hypertech's highest setting can't keep up with my 6.0 X on stock.....

But your still talking about a 6.0, the 1705 for the 7.3 is a fair programer... good for the beginner;) ...

Yeah, I knew the 6.slow was in good fun. My buddie's had great luck with his programmer on the 7.3, but he got a hypertech. In hindsight, I wish I would've gotten a better (ie: custom burn capable) programmer for the same money I paid for the SCMT. Another lesson learned...
