Does the TS chip give good reliable power and improve gas mileage? Is it better than the edge programmer and could the chip be reburned?

its $50 to reburn it, more if you send it to a sattellite dealer for ts(that was as of 6 month ago, things may have changed....). as far as power, it all depends on your mods and how the chip is written. 79broncoidi on this forum had one and had good power out of it, however the "140" setting was useless and would make the engine die if you floored it. i think the evolution would be comparible in power if you were to get an off the shelf generic race program on the chip. i think the same goes for mileage on the "econo" settings as well.

I have the ts 5x on my 6.0. I like it for the horsepower from the chip but not the mileage. I get avg. with the chip of 15.5 mpg but thats with the trucks computer. But it does lay a nice cloud of smoke.:burnit

Another question: does any one know how to get an edge evolution unlocked or do you send it back to Edge to get them to reprogram it< Do they charge for the reprograming?

Advantage of a multi-position chip over the programmer is that you can change programs on the fly rather than having to shutdown and offload/reload. You won't get much out of the more extreme settings as the injectors cannot support the fuel demand required (you would need modified injectors to make good use of the settings, although it looks like you do have a 97 California truck which would have the split-shots that flow more fuel). I would save the bucks and use it towards a custom chip from Tony Wildman (Total Diesel Performance) or Jody Tipton (DP Tuner). JMHO of course. Cheers!

I think I should just save the money and go with a custom chip from Dp tuner.
could a manual tranny chip work on a automatic? saw a dp tuner on ebay cheap but for a manual tranny
