Intro: in the past 6months my truck has been broken in to twice. not at the same place but here in houston. first time and second time they mostlikly used a screw driver and vice grips to my key tumbler, questions are

1 what are your thoughts on preventing this, mine, shaved hoor handles and then they would have to break window, cheaper to fix right?
2 what do you all think, any other ideas?????????????????

truck broken into

I had the same thing happen to me before Chris and here are some remedies that I did and have worked so far. First, I completely disassembled the door key cylinders on both sides and bought a set of chrome door handle covers that cover the lock holes as well. You may have to sacrifice and buy two sets of these covers as the kits usually only come with one that blocks the keyway. Otherwise you can get creative and epoxy a quarter into the key hole cover.
Secondly, I went onto e-bay and found a cheap "SWAT" team vest that clearly says police on it and I also purchased a few "Sheriff" arm patches that display the local police department in my town and I keep the vest in plain view and the patch I keep right on the dash board like a parking stub.
If a guy has a choice, he's not going to break into a truck that has no key cylinders and may belong to a cop, right? Total cost about $ 125. Hope this helps.

Truck broken into

Xtremediesel.com, Speedandtruckworld.com. Basically any truck aftermarket parts place has them and they are around $99 for the set of 4 (if you have the 4 door) and one for the tail gate. Thieves usually won't break a window if they can help it, so I would definitely get the door handle covers. Good luck.

Truck broken into

My only other suggestion would be to catch the punk that's breaking into your truck and beat him within an inch of his life. My first suggestion is probably safer though.

i dis abled the lock cylindersrs at the drivers door, the passenger didnt have one in 06
removed the internal linkages to the actual lock itself, bad thing is if my batteries go dead i have to break a window to get in.
this way they have to either break the window, which will alarm me,
which dependng on how far i am from the truck could be bad or very BAD for the breaker iner.:sly
2nd i have a hidden fuel pump kill switch in case the alarm gets bypassed

i like the idea of a SWAT vest laying in the seat :D

as far as the tag
go to the DMV and ask for the address, might charge you ???
