My dad's truck is doing the same thing, F150 with 180k. At part throttle at the top of 3rd (maybe 4th too, can't remember), if engine speed starts slowing down the truck will start bucking. It stops if I motor on, let off the gas, or shift into a higher gear. Just flushed the tranny with Dexron III/Mercon, so I hope that will help, but I was wondering if I'm on the verge of going through a tranny...
Thanks in advance,
Jesse

dude, ya gotta tell us if it's engaging and dis-engaging, hunting through a couple of gears, or just plain bucking...

first check your fluid level...

almost sounds to me like you got a bad set of plugwires (part throttle, moderate load)

Diesels have plug wires? New to this diesel thing... It isn't engaging, just bucking, rpm stays about the same.

My dad's truck is doing the same thing, i.e., as mine. Guess I should have clarified.
It's my 250 that is malfunctioning.
Thanks,
Jesse

OK... we have two tucks with the same symptoms, but one is a gas the other a diesel engine?

Sigh, yes, I was just saying that to eliminate engine problems, I've heard it's common with older Ford trannies.
