well web mechanics, here it goes. Seems that my automatic is having trouble deciding what gear it wants to be in. 2nd to 3rd, jumps and swaps back and fourth, can't go more than 30-40. It has fluid. Any ideas/costs? the more I drive it the worst/frequent it becomes:burnit

The prolems started after I drove through car wash.

couple possibilities and going off the fact that you had problems when you went through a carwash.

Check the connectors going to the transmission for good connections and no corrosion. There will be a range snesor on the drivers side of the transmission and then the soenoid body will connect on the rear passenger's side of the transmssion on the upper surface of the transmission. There will be a heat shield over the connector on the solenoid body to protect it from exhaust heat. You do not have to remove both bolts that old it in completely to get it off one is slotted, I want to say that it is the back one but I'm not positive since it has been a while since i've had mine out.

Those options would be most likely source especially if the automatic carwash had a pressurized undercarrage wash.

The other options would be that you have some trash stuck in the valvebody or the filter is not seated correctly in the front pump. or the filter is clogged.

I Had this on my 97 350 ps . Turned out to be a bad connection on the speed sensor on the rear axle

i vote for the solenoid connecter. when i installed my tranny i had alot of problems, it all turned out to be a bad connection at the solenoids. take the connectors apart spray out very well with brake cleaner, this will remove water and oils, it also evaporates very quickly, then apply alot of dielectric(sp) grease this will help keep water out and prevent corrosion. you might want to plug and unplug several times to "scrape" the contacts clean(against each other) good luck
