So just a thought, Is it really necessary to run the trans lines through the radiator? I live in CA and am not to worried about it getting up to temp on a
" chilly" 40 degree california morning. Am I overthinking this or what?

I live in Calif too and mine is hooked up through the radiator. Forget about cool winter temps...think about 108*F in August when your tranny needs as much cooling help as it can muster. Hooking it up through the radiator is done for a reason. :2c

yeah and it also has to deal with all the radiator heat so then it is not as efficient. plus the radiator is very restrictive.

the trans cooler is INFRONT of the radiator, and the radiator (coolant)
helps reduce the temp of the trans fluid.

im not sure about the factory trans cooler but MOST have a thermostat
in 'em...trans coolers have been run thru the radiator to AID in cooling
since the freekin' stone age...do it the way the factory has done it.

if it works for the guys in canada and alaska your 40* california
mornings will be fine !

40 degree Ca comment was a joke......... if it needs help why would you subject the trans that runs cooler than the truck, 195-200 as apposed to the trans running at 150-190?????
