I installed Isspro gauges a few weeks ago. I remember in the instructions for the Trans Temp Sender said to put some RVT on the threads and install into the high pressure test port. And there was a NOTE:

"TECH TIP:Some trucks came from the factory with the high pressure test port threaded to deep. This may cause the sender to not seal properly. If you later find that this is the case, do not try to tighten the sender down more to solve the problem. Doing so may cause the sender to break off inside the transmission. Please follow the guide lines to solve the problem:
1. Remove and clean the sender. Try to remove all the RVT from the threads.
2. Cut off a 4" piece of teflon tape and make 3 wraps around the threads. Cut off excess.
3. Reinstall the sender once again being careful not to overtighten.
4. Because the Isspro sender is a 2 wire unit it does not need metal to metal contact for grounding."

Has anyone else had this problem?
AND
Does this teflon tape fix seem right?

Thanks.

I used liquid teflon on my sender, but yes, the tape works just as well. In fact, sometimes the tape works better than the liquid stuff!!

I got the tape on there and reinstalled (Hand tight and then 2 full turns) after a quick test drive no leak (knock knock knock). I've got quite a bit of driving to do tommorow, and will check again. Last time I checked it after a week and after 2 weeks no leak, then couple weeks later noticed a spot in the gararge. So I guess I'll have to keep checking for quite some time to make sure this time.
Thanks.
Jamie

PS, Daryl, I got those fogs working. Thanks so much for the help. I don't even want to tell you how I planned on doing it B4 I talked to you. :notworthy

They both probably had it, but you know what happens when you ask questions over the phone  . So, I went down and looked aruond till I found it myself. It was only four blades 85,86,87, 30 with your instructions I just assumed I didnt need both the 87's. Turned the key (with fire extinguisher in hand..JK) and look at that light and no fire. (yet)

BTW, One guy insisted it was a flasher. :dunno

They LOOK a lot like a flasher, and in fact work in much the same way, but instead of cycling on and off, they just STAY on.

trans temp leaking

Is the port you talk about in front of the shifting mechanism? And if the sensor is inserted too far could it cause a pressure build-up in the tranny? My tranny just started leaking in front (seal?) a day or two after the sensor was put in (coincidence?).
