I work for a Township as a mechanic. We have a F550 with a dump body in our fleet and seems that the trans is slipping. The other day it had a small load in the box, The driver went to pull out and it did'nt want to go:dunno . The RPM's went up, no wheel spin and no movment. It's a auto with OD. Is the an adjustment on this? What else can I do to figure this out? The oil level is up and everything seems to be good. It also seems to be a bit slow off the line.

Thanks, John

On the severe use of the 4R100 transmission I'd hope that the fluid & filter is changed on a severe use schedule but age alone can make em go belly up.

For a F550 I prefer a handshaker over the automatic due to durability but thats my personal preference.

The truck is used for plowing, so I guess its severe use during that time. The service is done like clock work on all the trucks in the fleet. As far as a handshaker I think we would be going through them, for the fact of too many people driving them.

Nobody knows? Please I don't want to call the dealer:tongue2
