Will a 6.0 liter tranny fit a 99-03 7.3? i found a cheap 6.0 tranny on craigslist with ver low miles and thought it might be good for a rainy day.

;tu That about sums it up, the bellhousing plate is very different from the T444E to the VT365.You would have to have an adapter plate made up, plus a flywheel and then the wiring would have to be done so it works, plus the newer style transmissions are 5 speed automatics. Maybe your onto something but the 4R100 is bulletproof and come around on Craigslist too.

okay, cool. thats what i thought, but figured i would ask first. i have heard different about the 4r100 though. i remember when i was searching for my truck, i ran across alot of low mileage 7.3's that had the tranny replaced. are these anomiles? i have been worried about my tranny since i put a tuner on it, but the temps have never gotten over 190.

4r100

The transmissions that were replaced were probably not taken care of and overheated by tuners and or inadequate cooling systems, maintenence is the KEY to every component lasting. I'm sure some might have failed but what transmission doesn't. 190 is even a little high, mine never go's above 150 when towing or pulling stumps. Do you have proper cooling and fliter parts on you rig?

no, im all stock and i barely ever tow. the one time i did see it get that high was when it was about 105F here in louisiana. i was told ambient temp +100F was okay. is that true?
i average about 130F.
