Hi Ford drivers,
on my 1994 F350 7,3 Powerstroke crew-cab-long-bed-two-wheel-drive-non-dually ia have a problem withe the transmission. Since 10.000 KM the transmission controllight starts to flash after a few driven kilomters. It starts mostly after shifting in the last gear (OD) or after i was speeding up with high RPM (2500 to 3000). When the light is flashing the transmission shifts usualy and without any problems. If i turn of the engine it is off after starting again and comes back a few kilometers later. I have a big transmission cooler installed and do not think it is because of heat. I do not know how to read out the code, please could you give me instruction to this?
next thing is, when i want to start on traffic light in D engine gives high RPM and car starts really slow, if i start on 2 it starts really quick. If i drive setting one till end it is the same like on setting 2, should it not shift one time one setting 2?
for an answer i would be really happy, here in Poland nobody knows about this famous trucks from Ford.

Kindly regards,

Janusz

Can you locate a code reader or scanner? It should be able to read CAN communications protocol and be an OBD II reader.

Good Luck

When you have the shift selector in 2nd, it doesn't start in 1st and then shift to 2nd and hold, you are locked into second gear period.....a flashing od light and the milage you have on your truck suggests that you are looking at a potential transmisson rebuild. here are a few questions that can help us determine what may be wrong and what you can do to fix it at the lowest possible cost.

1. When was the last tranny fluid and internal filter change?

2. What brand of transmission fluid?

3. pull the dip stick and look @ the color of the
fluid, and smell it for a "burnt" smell.....

4. If it is due for a fluid change, as soon as you get
the pan off, let us know what amount and size of
small metal cuttings you have in the bottom of
the pan.

5. We have a transmission expert who builds one of the best aftermarket trannies in the country as a new member here, (Richter69), I'll make him aware of your problems and without a doubt he can help us diagnose the problems better...please moniter the site periodically over the next couple of days ...
