I have had a small leak in the valley for several years and it has now developed into a larger leak. I was planning on tearing her down next weekend and resealing about everything in the valley as I cannot find just where the little pesky leak is coming from. Last night when I went to bed I picked up my new Northern Tool catalog and when thumbing through it I came across this leak finder kit. Seems to be some dye, light and a pair of glasses. For $55 is it worth a try? I would pay $500 to find the leak as it is annoying me. On my recent 600 miles road trip the oil drips made it all the way back to the rear-end and that ain't acceptable.

try napa. i know i have seen the dye at napa.

if you don;t have a good blacklight, the kit might not be so bad. looks like it has stuff to trace A/C too, how bad would shipping be?

Definitely worth it...to use a detector.

The only negative I see is that you'll have to buy some more dye to check your system for leaks ($20 - $30). Usually these things are 1oz to 1 gallon of oil. The kit just comes with 1 bottle of engine dye.

I've been hunting my oil leak for a while and finally broke down and got some other leak detector. It's made by EF Products..got it at NAPA, but I noticed the other day that Autozone has it as well.

The first batch I got had the dye in a aerosol can, it did NOT work properly. After asking the company, they sent me a bottle of the dye, it does work good. With their product, you can't use a blacklight. I'm not sure about Tracerline.

To America probably only a few buck but to Alaska about $100 probably
