:doh:....Making the same whining noise that it did before it started screwing up my shifts. I actually think it taking longer to shift out of third than it usually has been (about 2,800rpm it shifts into fourth). I just replaced my stock tc with a billet THIS YEAR!!! 1/18/10 to be exact. The replacement has a 1yr waranty. I'm gonna feel like an ******* if it goes out again and I take it back up there...even though I think they over charged me last time for the whole rebuild. They told me it would be up to $2200 dpending on how bad the tranny was. I went back into their shop when they had my transmission apart and said it wasn't in that bad of shape and the reverse still worked. Bill wound up being $2,386.02:

12hr Labor- $85per hr = $780
E4OD banner kit = $267.00
E4OD solenoid assy.= $197.40
Fluid= $50.00
E4OD Billet TC= $569.00
E4OD Reprog HD/HP= $277.61
E4OD Modulator Boost Valve $48.00
Taxes= 197.01

I think if I do have to replace it again I'll go ATS. I just dont see how I could have already gone through a billet tc in....1...2....3!!!! MONTHS:eek:

Is there anyway to check to see if it is the torque converter going out?

$2400 isn't bad..
that's what mine was, which also included a t/c..
reprogramming kit, high gear sun shell

you have to have gotten some kind of warranty on it, right?

take it back up there would be my advice

I'm 3 months into my 1yr waranty. I got to thinking...my stock tc lasted a whole year under the same driving conditions untill I hooked up to my 5th wheel. What kind of "billet" tc did they sell me?????

I'm thinking about going up there and have them test drive my truck and get their $.02. before I possibly start screwing up my transmission and damage something not covered under waranty. I know they might be :rant but oh well:dunno Should I wait to see if anymore symtons appear? The next sympton if it is the tc is gear shift errors. Then I would want them to go into the transmission and make sure everything is still intact.

If it has a one year waranty, take it back and let them check it out.

I'm probablly gonna take work off a little early tomorrow and go by to have them to check it out. they said the tc they put in was rated 800-1800lb ft of torque. I'm only making around 700. Shouldn't these billet tc be built to handle the most bruttal use. I dont get on it real hard a lot. I do accelerate through the gears faster than most vehicles. If I "grandpa" drive it takes FOREVER to change to the next gear and it feels like it in a bind. Plus I like to space myself out from the rest if the vehicles. I'm thinking about proposing the idea that they split the difference of the tc they installed and an ats tc. If they don't want to..fine. I'll just keep going through their tc and they'll keep replacing them. And the ATS tc comes with its own 5yr/500,000mi warranty so they dont have to cover it and it gets them out from under another waranty.

Just got back from the transmission shop. I think they are in denial....they think its the turbo:lmao I even showed them that I was not making any boost and We could still hear the noise (or could it still make a noise without making boost:dunno). The turbo on it is about a year old and I know what it sounds like when its fixing to go out. I can hear the noise beneath me....if it was turbo it would sound like it was right in front of me in the dash. I propposed the ats and the mechanic (the manager wasn't there) didn't sound like they would go for it. He didn't believe me at first that it came with a 5yr/500,000mi waranty. He told me if I wanted to leave it with him him try to look into what ELSE it may be. I told him I'll just wait and deal with the noise until some more symtons to point us in a better direction (than turbo of all places)...

We made the noise in D ,2nd , and 1st. He said it looked like to him it was making the noise at a certain load on the engine...not the tc. My thinking the load on the tc is determine by the load on the engine. Is there anything that could cause this noise in the engine or even the front axle? It sounds just like my last tc going out...mainly around 30-45mph depending on the level of road and the accleration.

Just went over to my uncles and had him drive it. He said he would bet one of his trucks it is the tc. He has a 99 f250 that also has a tc going out for some time now. He said to give it hell and make the :censored: break before the waranty is up. So untill it happens...:burnit
