just a question. do ya'll think that it would hurt my engine to put mods on it with it having 240,000 miles? the thing that makes me wonder is my stepdad just had some things done to his dodge w/ 210,000mi. on it and he has been having oil leaks everywhere. valve cover gaskets blew and timing cover got crushed. i don't have BIG plans for this engine maybe a chip and intake and exhaust. i don't want to put a whole lot of money into a high mileage engine. i will probably do more to it when i am forced to rebuid or get a new engine.

I can't see an intake, exhaust and/or chip hurting your higher mileage engine providing the engine is in good shape. The good thing about those 3 mods is that at least they are reusable with a new motor. I would say do the intake and exhaust and see how the motor and turbo like it then decide if you still want to add a chip. :burnit
My truck has just under 200,000 miles and I run a tuner and chip stacked, exhaust and intake plus a few other mods without any problems.

yeah. my brother's 99' dodge has 205,000 miles on it and he has intake, exhaust, chip, and injectors. he hasn't had any problems with his other than his TPS. i don't know i'm gonna go and get an air filter one of these days so i can diy my intake. i just haven't gotten around to it. are there any little mods that can be done on the obs psd's that don't cost anything? like turn up the injector pump or things like that? just thought i would ask since my stepdad's dodge has some things like that that u can do to boost your power.

i'm gonna change my oil in about 2 weeks and i was thinkin' of changin' to amsoil or royal purple synthetics. what would be the difference that i would get right now i'm just runnin' Delo 400. what's the difference between synthetics and my regular oil? i don't know much about oils. i just put in it what my stepdad said was good.

I dont want to go against the grain of what your step father is telling you BUT........... is the Delo working well for you? Truck run fine? No excessive oil usage? No rough idle? No foaming issues? If you answer those questions honestly then you will have your answer if you need to change to a Syn or just stay dino.

it seems like my whole truck shakes a bit at idle, possible a little more than my girlfriends dad's '95 psd does and one of my stepdad's friends '97 psd. the truck runs fine but i have a little over 1,000 miles on the oil right now and i've already added about 1 1/2-2 quarts maybe, i don't know how much since i just buy gallon jugs. no foaming issues. when the engine is fairly cold it doesn't want to go too much. i ran into a situation that i had to step on it when the engine was still cold and it didn't get up and go very much. after it warms up then it gets up and goes good for a stock truck after you get to 2000 rpm's. is it normal for these trucks to wait until they get to 2000 rpm's then pick up power?
