Inside the driver's door on my 97 F350 it calls for 10 ply LT235/85R16E tires on front and back with a load rating of D or E. The previous owner put four 6 ply LT265/75R16 Goodyear Tracker Radial with a C load rating. They have 2/3 of their tread left. Obviously my current tires are too light duty for the truck even though I always drive with a very light load- but my questions is are they dangerous to drive on? Any advice? Please mention your experience with tires in your response.

Thanks,

Load range C is for Jeeps and the like. Your truck is made to haul much heavier loads than those tires can handle. You would not even come close to loading up your truck and the tires would be overloaded and dangerous!!

Not all C load tires are bad. I have seen C load range with more weight capacity than the factory steeltex E's. They might be a little soft in the side wall but if they are rated for 3500# then what is the problem???

The Tracker is manufactured exclusively for Wal-Mart and is a low quality tire. I would check the sidewall and see just what is says the weight rating is. As long as they are rated for at least 2000# then you are not overloading them when running empty but I would not try packing much a load with them. Obviously in the future you plan on installing a better tire but if you are not overloading the current ones I personally would run them out.
