I have a 99 F250 crew cab 4 door, short bed 4X4 PSD that is going to need tires soon. The truck originally came with A/T tires, load range E. The current tires are Goodyear Wrangler AT/S, Load Range D. These were put on the truck because the tire place was out of Load Range E at the time.
When buying tires, I always check out Tire Rack for their customer reviews & check out what tires seem to be the best at the time, ususally buying one of the top three. I'm not necessarily brand loyal. Now, I have a chance to get a deal through a Firestone dealer, but I don't like what I hear about the Transforce HT due to poor trad life. The Firestone Destination A/T sounds good, but is only available up to load range C, at least at the Tire Rack.
I run the truck empty most the time, no towing, and ocassionally load the bed for either house projects or vacation to the cabin.
My requirements for tires is low noise, good tread life, & decent traction in rain & snow. Given that, I would like some recoomendations for tires based upon how I use the truck & what I like in a tire. I'm really interested in comments on load range as well. I don't think I want to go down to a load range C. Oh yeah, one more thing, I'd like to stay away from the the $175 price range. The tire size I need is 265 x 75-16.
Thanks, FJK
