Hi all, I am in need for a new set of tires to go on my '04 F350 CC Dually 4x4. I use the truck for over the road hauling and occasionally for some 4x4 work. I need a good tire that can handle alot of weight and potholes on the highway and get me through some wet fields occasionally. I would like to get good mileage with these as 6 gets expensive. What is everyones recommendation? 235/85/16

Thanks
Scott

I've got Goodyear commercial G159LT 235/85/16s on mine. Click the link in my sig. They are similar to the tires used on UPS trucks, all belts are steel and are E rated. They were not cheap, but I expect to get over 60K on them. So far they have 37K and have most of the tread left.

How are they in wet grass or small amount of mud? The reason I as is because sometimes I have to go through some wet fields to get to barns for hay or occasionally some mud.I don't mind paying as long as I get what I am after.

Thanks

I've been going through the same deal all week after blowing out a tire. My problem is trying to find one in an 18" wheel with a load E rating that will work on wet grass, dust and mud.
3/4's of the tires listed as M/S look to be just crap when I'm on a site. Plus I'm the type of person who will put up with 364 days of road noise just so I don't get stuck on that one day of snow.

So my choice that I'm trying to get is the ProComp Xtreme AT - the new tire they are making. If I had 16" rims then I would go with the ProComp AT. Actually there are several others for the 16" that would work.

If - I just wanted a more highway tire then I would stick with what I have - Goodyear ATS which came stock on the truck. It's great in everything except for mud where it's just okay and you better know how to drive.

Last summer I got a new set of LT285/75R16's with a 60,000+ tread life waranty from the local American Car Care Center franchise. I've been very happy with the service work they've done there, and they have even fixed a few things at a break-even price that another place botched. :thanks

A.C.C. centers has a line of "house brand" tires that are made for them by Michelin . So you can get Michelin tires at a "Brand X" price. :thumbs
7 months and counting and no complaints on the tires.

Previously I had a set of LT285/75R16 Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos, Excellent winter & wet traction, but they are very pricey. I couldn't afford the extra $35+ per tires vs the ones I bought.

Has anyone ever run Maxxis tires? I am looking at the MA-751's http://www.maxxis.com/products/automotive/product_detail.asp?id=188&product_id=2549
and the MA-761's http://www.maxxis.com/products/automotive/product_detail.asp?id=246&product_id=2562
I need some input because I have to buy something tomorrow thanks to Mr. DOT man! I need these mainly for highway use and occasionally some wet grass small mud situations. I'm not set on these tires so please feel free to give me some ideas. I need to be able to haul the maximum with these tires.

Thanks

Myself and my dad run Bridgestone commercial tires--cost about $170/tire, but I put 75,000 miles on my last set of the bottom truck on my sig--198,000 miles and only one, 1, flat.--Will never buy anything else. Great wear, several tread patterns available

I can't believe I forgot to check them. I know I have forgotten some others as well.

Thanks

Hey, Scott....

Based on my experiences with all my duallies, don't even think about taking them into slop. For that, we should have opted for SRW trucks. Every time I've tried, my Bronco II with 35 Hawgs has gotten a workout. Even then, it was a struggle because of the weight of my duallies. Someday they'll come out with reasonably priced super singles and we'll then be in high cotton.

If you're determined to go ahead and try, take a look at Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers at tirerack.com for an example....you don't want anything less aggressive and don't get sucked into any common A/T.

Good luck.
