I noticed one of the site sponsers, Power Stroke Shop, lists the Throttle Position Sensor. Does anyone know if this really works? Far as I knew Ford was only making the TPS available as part of the complete $400 (gulp) Throttle Assembly...

FWIW I have been through the standard parts catalog but could not find anything that matched our TPS or IVS

I'm not positive, but maybe that one is for the Superduties? If so, the resistance range may be different. Cheers!

I sent them an e-mail. I also noticed they sell the whole assembly in another section of the site, so I have a feeling the TPS listing is in error.

Still hoping to find a cheaper way to rebuild the pedal asembly. The $400-700 from Ford for the 94-95 pedal assembly is completely unreasonable.

And the word from our sponser is (envelope please) It is a valid part number:sweet

I'm going to order one, and will post whether it works (yeah, I'll be a sceptic till it bolts in and actually functions)

I received the TPS today. It looks like it might be able to bolt on, but it is considerably different than the stock TPS. For one, the part that engages the throttle is a different design. Also, the connector is different and sticks out to the side instead of straight back.

I'm going to pull my throttle in a few days (getting ready to snowmobile has priority;) ). I will see what is needed to make this thing fit, then see if it shows the same resistance and voltage as the original. If it works, Napa sells a replacement plug for it, so sounds like a potential Wiki article to me:D

Stay tuned-popcorn

I'll try to remember to snap some pics of little bro's SD throttle assembly, I think he might even have an old one that he had to replace after he bought the truck.

I told him his IVS was out of adjustment or sticking and he looked and guess what it was different.

Been hard to find time to work with the new TPS, but an update for now.

A few issues that came up when I tested the two together tonight. The original TPS Ohms .593k-2.68k one side to center, and 2.91k-.836k on the other as the throttle was depressed. The new one measures .625k-3.96k and 4.0k-.360k full range. It has a wider range, and mocked up I could get it in the same range as the original on one side, but that made the other side way different. Will have to mock it up and see what the scantool shows for voltage. May only need one side right anyway. Or possible some resister mods can be worked out.

It turns the opposite way! This is OK tho as the TPS can be installed preloading it so the throttle is unwinding it. The problem is that puts it about 90 degrees off from the screw holes. Either an adapter plate or an insert would be needed to get it installed.

I'll update this with pics when I get going on further tests. Won't be right away as time is tight and this is my daily driver.
