the real Hard starting issue w/ SES light!

Hey guys, :sorry I hate to ask for help but, this morning I was trying to start the beast and she would fire a cylinder or two then shut off, then the light came on. There was some significant amount of smoke, I am thinking glow plug, but it could be more. maybe a relay? When I went to start her after work, she wouldn't even sputter for atleast five minutes. I think this is a glow plug issue but where do I start?

Glow plug relay. Do you know where its located? Top of the engine right side. What you can do to test it is take a set of jumper cables and jump across the two big posts for about 30-45 seconds (can do it with a real heavy duty screw driver too, but be prepared for some arcing) or whatever normal glowplug timer cycle is and then have someone hit the key. If she fires up like normal you need to replace that relay. If you still have problems, you can ohm out your GP's, they should read .2 to 1.0 ohms each, with the lower number being better. High numbers or 0 is a bad GP.

Oh Geeze no wonder why I couldn't find it. If you would like to move it that is fine with me, no big deal I guess, I will ohm her out today and also look at the relay, I kinda figured this was my problem.

GPR isn't going to throw a SES light but it might be a good place to start.

When my IPR nut wasn't tight enough I had the same problem, and again when I screwed one up trying to dissassemble it to clean while I was replacing O-rings.
