I have heard more about bio in the last month than I have ever heard before. MSNBC is having regular stories on it. This one shows a restaurant owner waking up to the idea.

I dont think I will ever buy myself another gasoline motor. Guess my childhood dreams of a Porsche convertible are over... :(

Once everyone catches on will there be a shortage? This country about lives on deep fried fast food but if all the waste starts getting turned into bio won't it become hard to get. If it becomes hard to get you know the next step which is charge high prices for it. Just a though:dunno

If it catches on good, the veggie oil supple will no longer come from WVO, it will hvae to be cultivated SVO from soy beans in order to meet the demands.

Personally, once it becomes readily available for all of us, I could not care less if it truly catches on. I just want consistent supply. I plan to eventually roll over to B100 and to heck with big oil. Now if I could just get my wife to go diesel. She did like the new Passat at the car show (I didnt like the price tag!).

I would like to see our farmers start growing the oil crops and getting rich again.

Yup :sweet I'm joining a local biodiesel coop next week when they have their monthly orientation meeting. I've already found four local suppliers of B-100 besides the coop. Since dino fuels are at near record high prices, the cost of B-100 although 5%-10% higher is worth the extra pennies IMO. I love it when I stop at a traffic light with my windows down and smell french fries instead of noxious exhaust. :hail :D

I think that the cost of #2 will soon be greater than bio diesel. Then, it will become mainstream. I've been looking into buying more bio fuel stocks. With the combination of high crude prices and worries of global warming, I think we are close to seeing bio diesel pumps become a regular sight.

Technically, it is, at least as far as actual costs are concerned. They were selling B100 here about $2.85, 20-30 cents above #2 not more than a year ago. And with the IRS rebates the stations get, it should have been much cheaper then. Now they are at $3.50 plus. Obviously the oil prices have some effect, but it seems to me the stations are taking advantage of oil prices to keep the bio prices high.

Probably won't see reasonable biodiesel prices till there is enough volume that competition forces stations to compete. That or federal rules requiring them to at least partially pass on the rebates.

I have been keeping a low profile around here. Only 2 people I know in the metro making it (of which 1 is me) and 2 in Lincoln 40 miles away. Plenty of WVO for the picking, just more than I can handle. I suppose it will take a few years but may catch on like the west coast has. State regs and all.
