I got pulled over to day just for window tent on a truck I just got from a ford dealer. The officer said the tent was to dark. I said the wife and I were just talking about it and that I did not think it was right.I had just called a sheriff friend of mine and asked if he would stop by and test it. The sheriff said he'll test it and he did and said I'll be right back. 5 mins later he comes back with a ticket of $101.00 for the tent being to dark. 3% front and less then 1% rear. Front should be 28% rear 15% in florida. It's just not right to do that and not give a warning about it first. My buddy is madder then a hornet about what just happen. Said he was going to up a hornet nest over it.

Take the ticket and give it to the dealer.

so was it the sherrif friend you called or the cop that gave u the ticket?if it was the friend he deserves to have his teeth knocked out.well they both deserve it either way.

The friend is a sheriff. He's cool the other sheriff in another district same county gave me the ticket. I did ask my buddy why do limos get to have dark tent if the law says that all vehicle have to have 28% front and 15% rear. He said that he did not know, but it is a very good point.

I am not sure about the rear window. Legally you don't have to have a rear window, just the mirrors for rearward visibility. Just look at most of the big rigs running the highways.

in my state they dont bother commercial vehicles.my windows in my towtruck were DARK.all livery and cabs have super dark tint on the back glass.even though were only allowed 35% on all glass they dont worry about the glass behind the driver in passenger vehicles.cop cars are all way beyond the limits.

Take a trip to the dealer and let them know that you will ensure that they are prosecuted for violation of FL law FS.316.2956(3) if they do not remedy the situation and pay your fine. Or this can be used as a no-contest claim in court and require the dealer to fix the tint to legal levels.

Or you can argue that the tint law does not apply to trucks

your truck is classified as a "multipurpose passenger vehicle" see FS.316.2951(2) (technically this could be considered a subsection of motor vehicles according to 316.003) see also truck in 316.003

FS.316.2954 governs window tint it only applies to "motor vehicles" which are defined in the above statute

When you say rear are your referring to the rear window of the truck or the rear door windows. rear window of the truck can be painted black with 0% transmission per FS.316.2954(2)


PS you need 32% on the front doors to legally operate your truck should you feel the need to drive through GA. GA's law is written specifically to vehicles that are operated in the state. GA does not care about the back doors or widows on trucks & SUVs

(59) TRUCK.—Any motor vehicle designed, used, or maintained primarily for the transportation of property. Witch it does my 5ther.

(2) “Multipurpose passenger vehicle” means a motor vehicle with motive power designed to carry 10 persons or fewer which is constructed either on a truck chassis or with special features for occasional off-road operation. I can carry 6 persons and I go off road in the mountains.
