I am stuck up here in North Alabama, we have a large effort going on to send in supplies and help the gulf coast.

I want to say thanks TEXAS for opening up the astro dome and getting the N.O folks out of the sewer.
makes me proud to be a Texan :cowboy:

any body got a line on how we can get HAY and feed for all the homeless horses around the gulf coast.
I saw some had been rounded up to a farm , but were in need of Hay.

Up north here in Dallas we're taking in people from New Orleans as well,our locations are Reunion Arena(where the Mavs play) and the Dallas Convention Center(up to 12,000 people expected)

I heard yesterday that neighboring local cities Arlington and Fort Worth are refugee destinations also.

Texas now has 3 locations Houston Astrodome, Dallas Reunion Arena (where the Maverics USEDto play) and San Antonio Not sure the name of the arena. I believe they are taking around 25,000 at each location.

Good point on the horses. I was wondering about all the now homeless animals. Most importanty the lovable German Shepherds, I may be biased though. :D

Yeah I don't follow the Mavs as you can tell :D

Quote from DallasNews.com;
At least 25,000 Hurricane Katrina refugees from Louisiana will begin relocating here Saturday, state and local officials confirmed Thursday evening.
City and county leaders scrambled to find suitable shelter for such an influx of storm victims, who they expected to arrive primarily by bus and plane.

Reunion Arena and a 200,000-square-foot portion of the Dallas Convention Center, both downtown, could house as many as 12,000 people, City Manager Mary Suhm said.
