Texas Rangers Beat Tampa Bay Rays!!!!

FINALLY, the Texas Rangers have won a playoff series, the last baseball team to do so. The franchise will be 50 years old next week (beginning as the Washington Senators), and it took 5 games, but they beat the Rays to advance to the American League Championship Series at home Friday night against (who else) the Yankees. However, they did sweep the Yanks at home recently during the season, but then the Yankees seem to kick things into a higher gear during the playoffs. Cliff Lee had a complete game and struck out 11 Rays.

I hope the Rangers can become your favorite team. Of course, they did sweep the Yankees in Texas last month, but of course, the playoffs are totally different. The Rangers will have CJ Wilson starting Friday, Colby Lewis Saturday, and probably Cliff Lee Monday when they play the first game in New York.

the Tiggers are actually my favorite team, but seeing as they didn't make the playoff this year (typical Detroit team), I gotta root for the Ragners.. er, RANGERS...

JL, it looks like the Rangers are fast becoming your favorite team. The way they're playing, they'll win the AL pennant in New York on Wednesday afternoon. It was awesome watching the Yankees fans' mass early exit two nights in a row!!

World Series Bound!!!!

Well, the Rangers took care of the dastardly Yankees last night and won their first ever trip to the World Series. The way they've been playing, I believe they can beat either the Phillies or the Giants!!!

A side note: The Rangers franchise (orginally Washington Senators) will be 50 years old on October 26th, the day before game 1 of the World Series.

I believe you're referring to the 1989 series with Oakland. There was also the 2002 series between SF and the Angels, which the Angels won.

The Giants have never won a world series since they've been in SF. Their last series victory was in 1954 while still in New York.

Many "experts" are picking the Rangers to win it in 6 games. I think the edge has been given to SF for pitching, but to the Rangers for most other areas. Since games 3, 4, and 5 will be in Arlington, I'd like to see the Rangers win it in 5 to take it at home.
