Anyone want to come build a fence?....11 people, about 4,150 livestock animals:( and 700 miles of fence. Not to mention the toasted high lines, homes and barns.

One family in the paper today talked about how they watched the  100ft fire tornadoes engulf their barn while bucket brigading to save their house.

Excel energy has been working long hours to get power lines back up. 170 bales, weighing 1400lbs or so, have basically just shown up in some instances thanks to some downstate and out of state donations. Cowboys from CO calling to come help round up the stray animals. An oil worker from downstate is organizing a fence building crew. Things are starting to get organized as people are finding out all they need to do get back to business as usual.:thumbs

I am very grateful that none of our land was affected. Thanks to all the help that's going to be given in the future for some farming and ranching neighbors of my families.:sweet

That is so good to hear. We hear about people rushing to help the ones in New York and the ones on the Gulf Coast, but when we lose grass land and fences it takes a lot of money and man hours to put things back together. Hope and pray more people will get on the band wagon and help out. Wish I was able to do work like that to help out.
You all are in our prayers.

We have almost 25 miles of fence out at the ranch, half of which is 1950's vintage. I cannot imagine having to replace that.

Good to see people coming to the aid of those in need here in Texas.

At $5000 per mile....imagine that.

The horror stories about animals found are bad! I would have a hard time cleaning that up. Dad prolly wouldn't even be around as the steers are his 600lb pets. Some guys are still finding them drop dead after being checked out from the smoke inhalation. One guy in the paper lost 15% of his registered Hereford breeding stock and still worries about finding more.
