So I'm sitting here surfing the web and checking email. I have the radio on with the TV on but muted and I look up and see an infomercial about this "revolutionary" fishing rod. Some little compact, one piece thing. The rod looks like its only 5 feet long. Yep, its one of those "take anywhere" rods that folds up and the rod is retractable an stuff. The Instant Fisherman I think its called. Claims that if you have this one, you don't need all of these other rods, this one is the only one you need. They've got guys doing some slight offshore fishing with it too. Well riddle me this Batman, can it hold 200 yards of 30 lb test Berkley big game line? I don't know about the reds these guys catch but when I've hooked up with a huge redfish, they don't just jump in the boat without a fight. I would like to have seen the guy use that rod to reel in the 4 foot shark they had on the boat while holding the "Instant Fisherman" fishing rod. I'm not convinced. I think I'll just stick with my Abu Garcia 5600C reels and Diawa 7' medium heavy action rods. Sure they aren't just two easy payments of $19.95 and I will never be able to fit them in my golf bag, but they will always get the job done...See! For yall land lubbers, thats a speckled trout.
I think it would be a safe bet to stick with your other sticks! 
Or, you could go with that other 'As Seen on TV' fishin' rig that shoots your lure out of an attached canon so you don't have to hurt your arm casting!
