:dunnoHey all..long time lurker first time poster.. anyway I'm looking at a 1999 Ext Cab F250 SD XLT 2wd with over 600k miles on it.. the truck is pretty clean except for minor damage to the lower part of the bed from a tire blowout... But I wanted to find out what this thing should be valued at basically.. I did all the bluebook, nada, edmunds and what not but some don't go above 400k on mileage... I just don't want to get screwed. I'm trading a 1997 z71 half ton with 212k miles and he values the truck at $3900. He hauls boats and trailers around the country in it for a living thats why such high miles, but he said the only things he's replaced are an injector, alternator and belts... Should I shy away? I haven't driven it yet.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Holy sh#@

THAT'S A %&*# LOAD OF MILES, YOU MIGHT WANT TO DRIVE THE TRUCK AND VERIFY THAT NUMBERS CORRECT, OTHER THAN THAT i WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST PAYING NO MORE THAN $1000 FOR IT, NO WARRANTY? YOU GOTTA THINK THAT ONCE YOU START DRIVING THAT TRUCK IT'S GOING TO BREAK EVENTUALLY AND DIESEL REPAIRS ARE NOT CHEAP. I HAVE SEEN THEM WITH 400K, 500K, NEVER 600K ON AN ORIGINAL SHORT BLOCK BUT HEY A TRUCKS A TRUCK, BUY IT!!!

Go back to kbb.com and on the mileage put 599k. 600k is over there setting by one mile. you should be getting about 7k for private seller.

Me 600k I'd pass. Your talking about 8k to 15k for a new motor and another 3k for a trans. Now if you need a beater for a work or farm then go for it or even for a parts truck.

thanks for the reply dogman.. I'm really just going to sell it asap.. I'm trying to pay off a motorcycle and can't seem to sell my z71 for the life of me (though its not that great a truck either) is it worth it?.. I value my truck at $3500...

Beg to differ

Take into consideration that location matters also, a truck in new england is worth less than one in texas, kbb takes 600k too. Excellent condition is $6700 and poor is $5500 so without thinking about future repairs you can pay that and then be screwed when it breaks, which it will. Offer them $1000 and take no loss on your end, they will probably except that offer too with that kind of mileage. Your asking for issues taking a highway tow rig and trying to drive it on the street as a daily driver.

Yeah, but again, I'm not buying it.. I'm trading a $3500 truck for it... one of which I need to sell... and get roughly $3500-4000 out of..

Trade

Then sell your pick-up as a private party sale, then with the cash go buy the superduty, there seems to be information missing from this situation?

.. No, no missing information here... I thought I wrote earlier I need the money to pay off a bike (maybe I didn't) and I am having a hard time selling my current half-ton... so i'm trying to figure out if I would have an easier time selling the super duty vs my z71.. and if its worth the trade for my z71

I would keep trying to sell the truck you have, a 600k mile superduty will be just as hard to sell. With that many miles i dont think that many people would even want it for parts. Pass on the truck

Just remember its a 10 year old truck with a butt load of miles, everything on it should be worn out or almost worn out, i see it as a no win situation
