Hello everybody.
Last Thursday I did the WW and installed a new exhaust. Last Sunday I floored it to get on to the highway, just for fun. When I let off the throttle, I looked back and saw some white smoke, not much, just a bit. Figured I was burning the oil residue out of the new exhaust.
Since then, sometime the truck does not want to go. It will start fine, but once you push on the pedal, nothing happens. Stomp again, it will go, but is very hesitant to do so. Then, about 500yds away, the truck either will or wants to die out. I have been left several time sitting beside the road, trying to start truck after about 5 to 10 minutes sitting. Then it starts and we go on our way. Today when it wanted to die, I mashed the pedal and it kept it going, but it didn't like it. I have not noticed any more smoke from truck, but wanted to add that just in case. Truck is plugged in over night on timer. It was on for abut 5 hrs before today's trip. I know it was working cause the coolant temp gauge was just shy of low normal.
So what is your diagnosis?
CPS was changed last June or July. Just replaced the fuel filter on Thursday. I even disconnected both batteries for several hours, then started truck without touching anything, in hopes of resetting computer and relearning. When I did the WW I did remove the #8 oil plug. Lost a little oil, but nothing great.
After today's episode, truck was running a little rougher than normal. Didn't want to shift as soon as is usually did. Also just felt lie the truck was being held back. At around 1500rpm, the whole truck shacks.
Please help. I have a trip to SD in June and I want the truck to be better by then. If you need any other info, let me know.
Thanks for the help.
