I have a 97 psd 160,000 miles, I have the banks big hoss chip and the edge ez module, my question is this. When the engine gets warmed up it has a studdering problem when I begin to accelerate the engine studders bad enough to shake the gear shift for about the first three to five seconds, I have checked high pressure oil pressure and fuel pressure and have found nothing wrong there? the only thing that makes it seem to go away is when I run with the icp sensor unplugged but when I run with this unplugged aqnd the gauge on the oil pressure rail there is no change in the pressure. any ideas? I have tried everthing I can think of and even two different ford dealers have not been able to figure this out.

The sensor is bad. With the sensor unplugged the computer uses default setting to run the truck. Change the ICP and I bet you'll solve the trouble.

The ICP controls the IPR which controls the high pressure oil to the injectors. I doubt you'll be able to see the trouble with a manual gauge. And if its mounted on the engine you cant read it under normal driving conditions.
Where on the oil rail are you getting your readings??

I had my gauge ran out through the hood back by the windshield. I was not able to shut the hood all the way but I could see what the pressure was doing. also I had the gauge tapped into the port on the passenger side head. I drove it around town for about an hour, I tried it with the sensor plugged in, with it unplugged, and with the edge EZ plugged in.

put the guage in the driver's side since thats' where the ICP is located. The guage will also provides a pulse dampening so you may not see it because of the nature of adding the additional volume which will minimize spikes.

The logic for the driver's head is that each is isolated so each head may see different pressures.

Mine is a 5 speed and I have already got the smf I it I changed it over a year ago. If it was a dmf problem do you think it would only do it when the engine was cold? and It does go away when I unplug the icp.

I have pulled it, disassembled it, clean and polsihed all the parts and made sure there was no debris in it. I think that ITFOX is right with the icp sensor, what do you think any suggestions are more then welcome. thankyou.
