possible that the Idle Validation Switch (IVS) is not engaging so the engine is idling based on input from the throttle which is too low.

UVC harness problem.
Water in the IDM

Are you throwing any codes?

Hey Brandon,
The CEL came on breifly 2 minutes max , when I first started the van , had real rough idle but that was due to low batteries and cool temp outside. later that day picked up a loaner scanner from autozone, an actron cp9175 . No cel all day and the scanner wont pick up any codes.

The scanner MUST be for Ford Diesel PS, if not, you are not going to pick up any code.

Do you have a alarm on the van??

For a 100 bucks or so the dealers will pull all the code for you and print them.

What year van?

Yes I have an alarm, I have already disconected the alarm to remove that possibility. Change the oil and filter, found rotted hoses on fuel filler neck, replaced those. the van has been runnin good the last few days no cut outs or rough idle . I appreciate the ideas I will have to go to the dealership !!!!!!
