Ok, Im looking to replace my steering wheel. Ive got the solid black XLT and planning on getting a King Ranch, which we all know is tan and leather. Ive looked around and see most come without the airbag. They say to use your old airbag.

My question is this. Is the center cover considered part of the airbag? I havent gotten a straight answer on this. I can get a new wheel at a good price but it doesnt come with the airbag. That's cool if I can use my old one and just change out the cover. Any ideas?

The Ford DVD says that it comes with the front cover. So I don't know if you can change it or not. Ask a body shop they will know.

Just to clarify, the dvd says the airbag comes with the cover? Or the wheel comes with the cover? Thanks

The cover is part of the airbag. you could paint the one you have, though.

I thought about that. Matching up the colors and the the quality of the finished product are two things that really worry me.
