T-Case ??? 2001 SD 4x4, 7.3, 6spd, man shift T case,160K mi, Can't shift from 2H into 4H on the fly it grinds If I stop It will shift into any gear no problem.No leaks or damage that I can see to the linkage.Need some help.
This truck has done no heavey towing or hauling.

Are you off the fuel and coasting? Sounds perfectly normal to me. I've never tried this myself, I always stop to shift the t-case. Don't forget to try putting the zf in neutral as well. High five on the 6spd!

do you have the hubs locked in?

I have a much better 2x2 than I thought. I went out and thought I was locking my hubs in but I unlocked them instead and then drove 50 mi home in that big storm that hit us in Az on Monday night. I have owned 4x4s since 1979 and I have never done this. Duh! My only excuse is it was snowing sideways when I did this. I now know that the new Goodyear MTR's are real good snow and way better ice tires than the old ones. Thanks
