do you have a cool air intake? if so then you should hear an awesome whistle around 2500 rpm. at least that's when mine starts to whistle really loud. if you don't have an intake then do a 6637 filter and take out the stock air box and you should hear it nicely.

Yep open intake will let you hear the turbo. Install a Tymar or a DIY system like the one in the Wiki.

Straight pipe is a exhaust with no muffler or other restrictions. A sawzall and a piece of straight pipe in place of the muffler is the simplest route. Changing out the flat restrictive downpipe is also a must.

you can do the DIY tymar for around $40. all you gotta do is get a 6637 filter.
my turbo really starts to whistle loud around the 2500 rpm range. although you will be able to hear the turbo it will not sound like the new ones b/c they have a wastegate and ours do not have a wastegate.
