Just bought an '09 F-350 Diesel a few months ago. Plans didn't go quite the way I thought and now I have only it to drive back and forth to work with. It's only 1.5 miles each way and I'm worried ..... is this going to cause too much wear on the engine?

No, wear is not the problem. Getting the engine HOT enough is the problem. Drive it more at least once a day. Get it to normal temperature before you shut it off. You will soot up the EGR and other systems if you don't get it hot.

yeah what dave said.. you are not going to put wear on the engine if you drive it more but these engines more than gassers need to be driven! so definitely do as dave said..

you need to take that bad boy out every could of days and put 15-20 miles on it..
evaporate out condensates..
heat the egr system & burn out soot..
regen the DPF
splash lube the axle bearings
give the batteries a good charge..
I could go on, but you get the idea..

-on edit..
why drive it at all if it's only a couple miles?
go to Wally World and get a cheap mountian bike for $89. and ride that..
that's what I'd do...
improve your cardio heath, man..

My guess is the temps up in Wyoming are a bit chilly to be riding a bike. But you are correct in getting it hot every couple of days.
