In a van down by the river...
Since the stuff I have listed on Ebay is doing waaaaay better than I thought, it looks like I may be able to put new shocks on my truck sooner, rather than later. So, my question is, with a 2.5" leveling kit on the frontend, will I have to go with extended front shocks or are stock-lengh units OK? FWIW, 95%+ of my driving is on either pavement or well- to somewhat-maintained dirt/gravel roads so it's not like I take the PSD four-wheeling on anything that even vaguely approaches a regular basis where I have the suspension at it's max articulation.

I was thinking about going with Bilstein shocks (vs. the Rancho's I've got on it now)--does anyone have the part numbers I'd need handy? Also, are the nickel-plated Bilsteins any better than the yellow/blue shocks and are they worth the extra expense?

You definetly want the right length shock for the front of your truck... if you hit a pothole or big bump on the road you might top out and find that the ride is not as good...

The easiest thing you can do is call your local 4wd shop like 4wheelparts or something and ask them for part #s... then order the shocks online.... I personally like rancho RSXs... they are a little on the spendy side, but well worth it...on the other hand I have never had a set of Bilsteins, so I'm not sure about those... I believe the Ranchos have a lifetime warranty also... :2c
