Finally got around to doing this mod today. Installed the gauge yesterday and had 45psi at idle. Put two #4 washers in and got it to 70 then took it for a test run and it had dropped to 60 at idle. Gonna have to go back in next weekend to add the third shim. Even with the pressure at 60, its idleing a lot smoother!

The drop in FP after a test run could be caused by air intrution. The 70 psi you saw was because the engine was at idle.. air >Purged< from the fuel system, because of no demands put on the engine.

Have you done any of the tank fitting or the Fuel Pump inlet QD delete Mods ?

On the inlet end of yer fuel pump there's a Quick Disconnect (type) fuel line fitting. Because it's a pressure fitting.. and it's on the Suction end of the fuel pump.. It >CAN< tend to leak (suck) air into the fuel during medium to heavy power needs. (possible reason for your 60 psi after the test run)

$10.00 fix: Buy a 16" of 5/16ths (or 3/8ths) Diesel friendly fuel line & 2 band clamps. R & R the QD fitting (and it's piece of fuel line) with the new fuel line (cut to fit) and band clamps.

The In Tank Mods (Hutch Mods) are for the same basic air/fuel reasons.. BUT.... if you keep At Least a 1/2 full fuel tank.. to keep those fittings submerged in fuel.... you wouldn't necessarily, need to do those Mods. JMO.

If your QD fitting IS leaking air (proly is), and you do the Mod ? When you Fire it up ? I'd betcha... you'll see & hear yer PSD smooooth out & quiet down :D;):)

I'll get the line this week and have it for the weekend! Looks like the Hutch Mod is my next move then. I have a tendency to watch the low fuel light some between fill ups:D! I saw a Tiki for the Hutch Mod so I'll check that out na few. When you say band clamps would the small regular gas hose clamps work or was that what your talking about or was it something special? I was checking out some spin on filters at fleetfilters for a prepump filter. Any reccommendations on what Micron filter to use?

Regular ol' band clamps will do. ;tu

Was thinking of going with the kit from ITP just so I aint gotta run all over town looking for stainless steel fittings/line! But I gotta buddy that works in a truck shop that can get me a discount on the filter and bass! That one seemed a little pricey.
