I need a shift knob with a switch in it. Like you get on a Spicer knob or something, with a slide-switch on the side for the split-axle controls.

I am finding it is a little complicated when I’m towing up and down hills to let go of the shifter to engage the exhaust brake, do my shifting, and then let go of the shifter to disengage when it’s time.

Unfortunately, it always seems like I need to shoft and run the brake at the same time, so I was thinking I could use the knob with the split axle switch built in to run my exhaust brake (off the split axle switch).

Does anyone know where I could get a shift knob with built in switch?

I dont know what to tell you... Could you wire the brake to the TPS and when you let off the brake comes on? That might be easier then the other one... Thats the way my kit works, but it was $$$... should be a one wire connection...But I dont know that wire LOL

I'd certainly considered the TPS thing. I may even do that with a 3-way switch... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Mybe this will take some additional consideration. I'm sure that finding the right wire would be easy, but I think it will take some complex electronics for my brake to turn ON when the TPS turns OFF... That is probably why your unit cost so much...

Wouldn't it wire to the IVS -{idle validation switch}?

Just about any major truck-em-up stop with a shop will have a multitude of those shifter handles ....'cept I believe they will all be for air splitters:dunno

If'n ya just want a plain janer, find atruck salvage yard and get one for a 2 spd axle....up -n- down:sweet

Why not just a momentary mini button?

Jegs or summit carries them. I'm not sure if the shift pattern on the six speed matches or not? They are made for line locks and nitrous but should work for jake brake too. About $48 a pop though.

Exactly my sentiments? They will be for air splitters for the transmissions, or some of the old chevy 2 tons and such had vacuum split rearends in them too.

I was just wondering though why do you need the exhaust brake when shifting??? If you are on the clutch you aren't gonna get any braking anyhow?? Semi's with jake brakes are allowed to operate by letting off the loud pedal. Jake brakes too btw are completely different critters, much more braking capacity than a butterfly in the exhaust. Alot of them have more compression than us too like 17-18+ to 1, so that alone helps engine braking, we have i think 14 to 1 or so.
