My shift lever has gotten sloppy in the detents and now I have to pull it up sometimes to get it to start. What part causes this and how hard is it to replace?

Mine is the same way. The problem with mine is the bushings in the column that hold the shifter assembly/rod are worn out. You can buy new ones from Ford. I don't know how hard they are to fix haven't attempted mine yet.

I just fixed mine, turned out that there are 2 Torx bolts on the back of the rod that tie it to the lever that were VERY loose. Loctited them and tightened em back up and it is much better now. Might give yours a look as well, you can see it if you lay on the floor and look up.
