Hey guys

I'm currently running the superchips microtuner and have the opportunity to get a Diablo sport predator at a good price. what advantages does the diablo have over the scmt? I'm really not happy with the way it shifts right now and thing that i could also get better power as well. Is it worth switching over to the diablo or should I just stay with the superchip? Obviously I know a dp tuner might be the best, but that isnt an option for me right now, so Id like to know what you all think is better between these 2.

Thanks!

I wouldnt buy another tuner like the diablo, just save your money, sell the 1705 and get a chip.

elaborate a bit if you could...ive still got another 20k left on my extended warranty and think that a chip would void that all together. do you feel that there would be no gains at all over the superchip?

What makes you think that a tuner wont void your warranty? No, I dont think the gains you'll see with the diablo over the SCMT would be notable or noticable.

i figured at least with the tuner i can clear the dtc's...with a chip that isnt possible if i dont have a code reader.

something else i thought of...there are plenty of used superchips out there for sale which would tell me that people arent that crazy about them.
I have yet to find 1 predator out there for sale that fits my truck. i think that could be an indicator that people are happy with them? of course theres other ways to look at it, but do you think that makes any sense? i just like the idea of the diablo being able to correct for tire size, provide live data and adjust shift firmness...something that a chip will not do...which would then require me to get another valve body for the tranny...which is pretty pricy

If you have a screaming good deal on a diablo that you just cant pass up, by all means buy it and install it. As far as the tranny goes, most of the issues surrounding the 4R100 arent tuning related and you will need to go with a shift kit of some sort to remedy those issues, be it a sonnax or transgo or just with an upgraded FTVB. You also need to consider the torque converter in the 4R100 which is medicore at best. I would consider tranny mods anyway if you are adding fuel to the engine.

A custom burned chip can be programmed to get the shift points in the tranny where you want them, it can also raise the line pressure to the tranny which will aide with shift firmness (so will a shift kit).

Again, I'm not going to talk you out of buying the diablo, I am just trying to let you know whats coming.

btw......... I dont see guages in your sig line?:cop

thanks for the advice. i see that its gonna take some more mods than im ready to pay for right now to get the custom burned chip in there. i definatley can see how the custom chip is the best way to go, but in my case i think im choosing the lesser of the 2 evils (scmt vs. predator). and as far as the gauges...ive always kept the superchip on the lowest and now that i want to do more and have realized the importance of gauges...my girlfriend has graciously gifted them to me:sly ...and they are now in a ups truck somewhere in the U.S. isspro boost, pyro, and tranny. thanks again for your thoughts!
