I'm debating on driving or flying to Denver in a few weeks for some classes. Plane tickets are paid for by work or they'll pay $0.44/mile to drive round trip. 1100 mile round trip = $484. So basically what ever fuel will cost me to get there and back the rest I pocket. I've been wanting to get the hoss out on the highway since I've done all the intake mods to see what kind of mileage I get out of her. I dont drive the truck enough to keep a good account of my mileage as I rarely fill it up and when I do take it out on weekends it's to pull my 32' enclosed to the track.

I do know that doing the tank mods almost cut the engine noise in half and thats got to amount to something! I couldn't believe how much air was being sucked into it.

What do you think? If I keep her at 2000 rpm (70 mph) sustained for 8 hours will she see 20+ mpg?

At least if you drive the truck you will have something to drive while you are there. At $0.44 per mail you should come out with a little left over. Enjoy airing that little feller out and have some fun. OPPS WORK!:roflmao :roflmao

Our pump diesel fuel cost was $330 for the 2,500 mile trip(Dallas,Phoenix,LA) we just came back from this week, average speed was 68mph with heavy cross/headwinds(typical for the southwest US)

If you're not going to be visiting friends/family there I'd rent a bucket to get around in to keep the miles off your truck but that's if I was in your position:sweet

Well, If I fly then they will pay for a rental so either way I've got wheels:burnit Then again fuel just went up around here last night from $2.89 to $3.09 for gas, diesel is still $3.19 at my station but I'd guess it'll follow soon and match premium gas at $3.29.

Bill, glad y'all are back. How was your fuel mileage? Did you get to use any bio on the trip (other than what you started with)?

Most of the roads in the NE states were posted at 55 MPH. I did 60 the majority of the time, but 75 all the way through WV. Very little stop & go.

But I did have the AC blasting the whole time. It was VERY hot. Even in Canada, lol.

Well I think I have made up my mind on flying there. I read on another site that denver was having a diesel shortage and this was expected to spread. Had something to do with the refineries making ulsd for oct and havent been keeping up with regular diesel

Plus with the price of things, the 1 hour 20 min flight looks nice compared to driving myself and pocketing a $100
