I had my left-front axle repaced 2-3 months ago because the needle bearings fell out and screwed the axle up. Ever since then my truck has been riding rough....after I got it fixed. The did tell me that I need to replace the passenger hub assy. I've jacked the whole front end off the dround and tried to wiggle the wheel...even took the wheel off to see if there was any slack in the bearings. Feels solid to me:dunno. They did say something (forgot exactly what it was they said) in the front end was worn out and needed to be replaced...sway bar I think?? They said it wasn't a safety issue, just made it ride smoother. I just blew it off thinking nothing of it.....but I'm regreting it now probably. I took it out for a drive to see what affected the feel of it. I took the locking hubs out.....still felt the same. I got up to 60mph, threw it in neutral, coasted to 45....felt the same mostly all the way through. I could feel it more around 50 to 45. I was in neutral so wouldn't that eleminate transmission problems? It does feel like it is in the front end....I'm just not sure where to look. I'm going to jack all 4 wheels off the dround and give everything a shake. I probably need to get whatever that was in the front end checked out and fixed and have the ball bearings replaced when I get the $$$.

that sounds like either a wheel bearing or maybe an axle joint, to me...

Well the left axle and that u-joint is only 3 months old. Both u-joints didn't have any play (no more than what it should). I did feel slack in my rear u-joint, just before the differential. I can stand on my rear wheels and rock my truck back and forth....shouldnt be able to do that should I? There was slack in the front differential, but would that affect anything even with my locking hubs out? I wouldn't think so:dunno. I'm probably going to replace the u-joints, I know I need to replace the ball joints :)doh:), then I'll shoot for the wheel bearings. How much does it cost to replace all ball joints on average?
