I will changing my clutch soon. I plan on replacing the rear main seal at the same time. I have read other posts that talk about a special tool for this. any help would be appreciated.

it usually comes with the seal.but for some reason the one i bought didnt come with the tool.there is a wear ring on the crankshaft that you need to remove also.i found that a dremel with a small cut off wheel works great.slice the ring with the dremel and tap it with a chisel, itll fall off.DO NOT seperate the ring from the new seal,it MUST be installed as a unit.the new seal will also come with a tube of the gray RTV from hell.they give you enough to do the pan and seal.when you buy the seal it will come with instructions.

Rich, I always use a dull cold chisel and cut into the ring in a place or two (not going all the way through, this expands the sleeve, comes right off.
I would be afraid a cutting wheel on it could easily damage the crank surface, but maybe you're steadier than me. :D
